Yield Whores
I know you yield whores are out there.
There are some decent ideas in this group, which is all stocks with at least a 5% yield. I ignore the LP’s and variable dividend energy producers. I alway keep an eye on these stocks. It is interesting there are not more utilities with a 5% yield.
I own HF Sinclair (5%), Alexandria Real Estate (6%), Rayonier (6%), and AES (7%) in this group.
These are my top yield ideas in ranked order:
Polaris - PII - $44 - 6%, very cheap, but I love the Brunswick story
Helmerich & Payne - HP - $28 - 5%, did not like the recent acquisition, but maybe too cheap to ignore, prefer Halliburton
Antero Midstream - AM - $16 - 6%, just a cash substitute
Tronox - TROX - $10 - 5%, too tied to housing, very interesting, need to learn more
Wendy’s - WEN - $14 - 7%, Tim has done a nice writeup, not convinced their breakfast is good enough
Flowers -FLO - $19 - 5%, very well run
Vail Resorts - MTN - $165 - 5%, still not enough snow?
FMC - FMC - $36 - 6%, very solid, but I like Nutrien and Mosaic better
ConAgra - CAG - $25 - 6%, reasonable, but boring, prefer ideas with more upside
Universal - UVV - $55 - 5%, well run small cap, too reliant on MO
Carters - $54 - 6%, children’s cloths, need to learn more, sourcing issues??
Whirlpool - WHR - $100 - 7%, please cut the dividend, decent restructuring
Verizon - VZ - $40 - 7%, reasonable, but I hoped for better result from business customers
Huntsman - $17 - 6%, maybe ok if you believe in housing
Bloomin Brands - BLMN - $12 - 8%, good food, aging locations, concerned
Greif - GEF.B - $63 - 5%, shutting production not a good sign
Kohl’s - KSS - $12 - 17%, Herb Kohl used to sack my parents groceries, but I hate their try to go upscale at just the wrong time
Ford - F - $9 -6%, just really detest the financing part of the business
Walgreen’s - WBA - $10 - 10%, everything has been tried, Amazon will buy someday
Leggett & Platt - $10 - 6%, I like Tempur Sealy at some price, too many problems here
Kraft Heinz - KHC - $29 - 5%, case study in too much leverage
Altria - MO - $54 - 6%, very sad I missed the run in PMI, little hope here
Edison International - EIX - $50, 6%, really hate the NY regulators
Pfizer - PFE - $26 - 6%, too much of a battleground
Dow - DOW - $39 - 7%, not making the upside case, worried about management
PS - It is a crazy world where reality star/real estate developer puts a young, Hindu, surfer girl, and former Democratic National Committee Vice Chair, in charge of our intelligence services. I think Ms. Gabbard will do an excellent job. The Church Committee helped the US in the 1970’s. Everyone should read The Devil’s Chessboard, and make their own decision about the CIA..
You have to give Trump credit. This was an unconventional choice and a “heavy lift”. Her life story is amazing. I have long been a pro free trade (maybe even a globalist/ elitist), “Never Trumper”, but her selection gives me someone to cheer for.
