Energy - HAL!!!
There is no rest for the wicked.
That statement is actually a Biblical proverb from the book of Isaiah. Mr. Google tells me the proverb means - “evil doers will face eternal punishment”
That is what it feels like to be a value investor. Merry Christmas
It feels like I should own more in this sector. Oil prices remain weak. I wish there was a clear E&P company to own, but that is not the case.
Halliburton - HAL - $26 is the best way to play the sector right now. Sometimes the simplest answer is the best answer. I hate using big cap names, but some of the smaller service stocks have iffy balance sheet. HAL is working through a turnaround, and doing the right things. If “drill baby drill” becomes the law of the land, HAL has to benefit.
Atlas Energy - AESI is an interesting stock is the fracking sand business. They are crazy enough to build a 37 mile conveyor system to bring sand from their mine to the nearest road. I still need to do more work,
Atlas Energy Solutions - AESI - $22 - finishing a 37 mile sand conveyer, best idea from Three Part conference
Helmerich & Payne - HP - $31 - not thrilled with recent acquisition, cheap stock
Phillips 66 - PSX - $110 - refining not really energy, HF Sinclair is better
Antero Midstream - AM - $15 - almost the same as cash
Civitas - CIVI - $43 - best E&P company, Colorado issues??, owned by lots of value guys
Devon Energy - DVN -$31- natural gas king, why no bounce when natural gas prices go up???
Magnolia Oil - MGY - $23 - best small E&P company, widely owned
Peabody Energy - BTU - $20 - buying more coal, iffy balance sheet, needs a new look at $20
Diamondback Energy - FANG -$156 - neat stock symbol, well run, Wall Street darling, maybe the best Permian idea??
Oceaneering Int. - OII - $25 - great offshore service business
